Auditions

Audition Dates: Boston Civic Symphony welcomes community members and students who are interested in playing with the orchestra. We typically hold auditions once a year in late August or early September. During the performance season, individual auditions can be scheduled on a case-by-case basis, depending on our need.

Rehearsals: Boston Civic Symphony rehearsals are normally on Monday evenings from 7:00-10:00pm, September through April. There is also a rehearsal on the Saturday afternoon before each concert (2:00-5:00pm) and on concert Sundays (11:00am-12:30pm).

The first full rehearsal of the 2018-2019 season will be September 17, 2018, 7:00-10:00pm.

Audition material consists of:

Applicants will be heard by our audition committee, which often consists of the music director/conductor, and other section leaders.

Board Memberships

The Board of Directors is the governing body of the Boston Civic Symphony. Its members share fiduciary responsibility, while overseeing the artistic, fiscal, and administrative operations of the orchestra. Board Members are not involved in day-to-day operations, but they collaborate closely with the orchestra staff at meetings, concerts, and events. If you are interested in joining the Board of Directors, please email Charles Kawada, President of the Board. He will contact you to discuss your interests and goals. We look forward to hearing from you.
